Picnic on the Green was founded in May, 2017, by Carrie Roper. Carrie has spent the past 20 years as a Human Resource professional. Her love of cooking, apprenticeships with CIA chefs, periodic catering requests, and encouragement from friends and family members has opened up this opportunity to live-out one of her true passions – serving others through food. While Carrie continues to support corporate clients through her HR business (www.pathfinder-hr.com) , as well as her church and local community with an Employment Assistance Ministry (www.jobministry.org) , Picnic on the Green has become a fun new venture that has quickly become known for its fresh, innovative, and delicious dishes. Carrie is a proud new member of the Houston Culinary Guild.
It’s a family affair at Picnic on the Green! One of the reasons Picnic on the Green was founded, was to create an opportunity to share the love of cooking and business with family and friends. While Carrie leads all cooking and creative efforts, her husband, Josh, and neighbor, John Vadell, lead all engineering and maintenance. Kids, Grace and Henry, often also help out on the truck during busy events. Close friends, Priscella Encalade and Vilma Smith, are key to the success of the business. Priscella often attends (or leads) our events. Vilma also attends events, and heads-up all marketing efforts. Another good friend, Jessica Starks, has been a huge help with getting Picnic on the Green going.
We love to serve our community! The food truck has given us another avenue to get to know and serve our community. We have been honored to be involved with local charities and churches, as well as to offer immediate assistance to the community during natural disasters.
